Your treatment will begin with a consultation. During your initial visit, you will be asked to fill out a confidential health form and your therapist will interview you to clarify any information you have noted on it, and areas of concern will be discussed.
A specific assessment is performed to determine restrictions in range of motion, musculoskeletal imbalances and to ensure relative pathologies are presented. The assessment findings will determine the course of treatment most suited to your needs. Once completed, your therapist will discuss with you his findings as well as a treatment plan. It is for this reason that an extra 15 minutes will be added to the length of your initial remedial or sports massage treatment. This assessment time will not cost you any extra.
Your modesty and comfort is considered at all times throughout the assessment and treatment processes and so once you consent to the treatment plan, the therapist will direct you to a private changing area where you may disrobe and cover yourself with a warm bath-sheet. Treatment is usually more effective if techniques are applied to bare skin. You will be draped at all times and only the area being directly treated will be uncovered. It is ALWAYS your right to leave on as much clothing as makes you comfortable.
Following the treatment, your therapist may arrange a treatment plan. This plan outlines the recommended course of therapy for your condition such as stretching and strengthening exercises for you to perform at home as well as possible changes in routine that aggravate your injury. It ensures your recovery will be as efficient and effective as possible.
Subsequent treatments will be similar to the above description, but with less time spent on interview and assessment.
